LinkedIn post generator with an authentic tone

A LinkedIn post generator is useful when the blank composer is the bottleneck and useless when the draft could have been written for anyone. The search for an "authentic tone" is a reaction to that second failure: the same hook shapes, the same "here's the thing," the same invented statistic, posted under a real name.

Boykli treats tone as a setting on one draft, not as a model of you. On Create posts you pick a write mode, you pick a tone that mode actually offers, and you supply the material. The writer is told to keep your nouns and your situation, to skip hashtags and emoji, and to refuse stats, studies, quotes, and anecdotes that are not in what you gave it. That is the whole authenticity mechanism. There is no file of your past LinkedIn posts, and an edit does not retrain anything for next Tuesday.

Logged-in visitors can browse Radar and Algorithm without a plan. Writing, images, carousels, Voice Agent, publishing, and scheduling need a paid seat. BYOK is $29 a month. Managed is $88 a month. Prices are the public ones on boykli.com.

Three ways people try to get a human tone

Paste a topic into a general chatA writer that learns your archiveBoykli Create posts
What "your voice" meansWhatever the model guesses from the topic lineA style built from posts you already published, plus later edits if the product says soA named tone for this draft, plus the words you just supplied
What you have to bringA topic. Often that is allOld posts, and sometimes a voice noteA core idea of at least 10 characters, or a YouTube URL, an article link, a document, or series source text
What survives the next sessionThe chat, if you keep itThe style file, if the product keeps oneThe draft in your Library. The tone choice does not become a persona
Opening lineOften a stock hook unless you forbid itA hook in the learned styleThe first line is the hook. You can supply the angle, or ask for 1 to 5 variations and pick one
Invented proofCommon unless you ban it in the promptDepends on the product. EasyGen's public FAQ says it learns tone and examples, not that it refuses invented numbersThe post prompts forbid invented stats, studies, quotes, and anecdotes
Where it can go nextYou paste it into LinkedIn yourselfOften a calendar you still publish by hand. See the EasyGen alternative for that specific caseEdit, then publish or queue on the personal profile you connect with LinkedIn OAuth

The middle column is a category, not a review of every tool in it. EasyGen is the one whose public FAQ states the archive claim in a sentence, and whose homepage, as of 25 October 2026, says it is not taking new signups. If that learned file is the feature you wanted, Boykli will disappoint you on purpose. The product was built so the words start from something you brought and you read them before they leave. That decision is the subject of building Boykli.

The tone list is different in each write mode

Create posts has seven modes. The tone menu is not one global list. A short post can be Humor. A long post cannot. A YouTube post can be Analytical. A short post cannot. The mismatch is deliberate: a two-paragraph note and a deep dive do not want the same set of instructions.

ModeWhat you give itTones you can pickShape the writer is asked for
ShortA core ideaViral Hook, Hot Take, Conversational, Thought Leader, Motivational, HumorAbout 30 to 75 words, two paragraphs at most. The page label says 45–400 characters
MediumA core ideaThought Leader, Personal Story, Teach & Explain, Step-by-Step, Conversational, HumorAbout 100 to 250 words, five paragraphs at most. The page label says 400–1400 characters
LongA core ideaThought Leader, Analytical, Teach & Explain, Personal StoryAbout 250 to 500 words, eight paragraphs at most. The page label says 1400–3000 characters
YouTubeA video URLTeach & Explain, Step-by-Step, Analytical, Thought Leader, Personal StoryA post from the video, not from the title alone
ArticleA news or blog linkAnalytical, Thought Leader, Teach & Explain, Hot TakeA post from the page the app could actually read
SeriesSource text or a topicStep-by-Step, Personal Story, Thought Leader, Teach & Explain2 to 8 posts. Each one is asked to land around 600–1200 characters, with its own opening
DocumentA PDF or document uploadTeach & Explain, Analytical, Step-by-Step, Thought LeaderA post pulled from the file, not from the filename

Those tone names are instructions, not moods the model is hoped to infer.

  • Viral Hook (short only): a first line that opens a question and stays direct.
  • Hot Take (short and article): contrarian, and it has to challenge a belief that is actually in your material.
  • Conversational (short and medium): short sentences, peer to peer, plain vocabulary.
  • Thought Leader: a strategic lesson. It is still required to use your nouns. "Leaders should" is the failure mode this tone is not allowed to fall into. A week of that constraint, from one decision to a queued cadence, is in LinkedIn thought leadership automation.
  • Motivational (short only): forward-looking, and it ends on a belief rather than a comment prompt.
  • Humor (short and medium): dry or sharp. No emoji. There is also a separate humor ideas library if you do not have a topic yet. Humor is not a tone on long, YouTube, article, series, or document.
  • Personal Story: a specific situation, then tension, then a takeaway. The prompt tells the model not to invent vulnerability you did not supply.
  • Teach & Explain: one concept, plain language.
  • Step-by-Step: a sequence someone could follow.
  • Analytical (long, YouTube, article, document): cause and effect. If you did not provide a number, the draft is supposed to proceed without one.

Short posts also ban a fixed list of openings: "Here's the thing," "Let that sink in," "Unpopular opinion," "Hot take," "The truth is," "In a world where," "Nobody talks about this," "This is your reminder," and starting the post with "I." Closers such as "Agree?", "Thoughts?", and "Comment below" are banned on that mode. Medium and long posts still ban hashtags and emoji. None of this is a guarantee that a given draft will clear your own ear. It is the spec the writer is given before you see the text.

A tone is not a voice clone

People use "authentic" for three different products, and they get angry when a vendor sells one of them under the name of another.

The first is a style model. You connect an archive, the tool reads how you open, how hard you push, which examples you repeat, and later drafts lean that way even when the topic is new. Boykli does not do this. The nearest thing to "sounding like you" is a live conversation in Voice Agent: the interview is transcribed while you talk, and the posts that come out belong to that session. They are not a persona applied afterward to every carousel and every scheduled post.

The second is a tone preset. You say hot take, or teach, or personal story, and the draft follows that shape while staying inside your source. That is Create posts.

The third is an edit. You change a line, and the next generation is supposed to remember the change. Boykli's refinement is the second kind of edit only for this draft. Each write mode allows two refinements. You type what to change. Managed accounts also have a monthly cap of 130 post refinements across the account. BYOK has no Boykli generation cap. You still pay OpenRouter for chat and images, and Google AI Studio for Voice Agent. Refinements do not update a profile of your taste.

If the draft repeats a phrase you hate, the fix is the refinement box or your own edit in the text, then the Library copy. It is not a settings page called "my voice." The buying split between that missing file, a session transcript, and a model's own taste is AI LinkedIn ghostwriter.

What you can feed it

Short, medium, and long start from a core idea. Under ten characters, Create posts stops you and asks for more context. Ten characters is a floor, not a target. "AI is changing work" will come back generic because the prompt is told to keep your nouns, and those five words do not contain a noun that is yours. A usable idea names the situation: who, what broke, what you measured, what you refused. One concrete detail from the input beats a paragraph of advice. A longer list of those shapes, written for technical founders and indie hackers, is on LinkedIn post ideas for founders.

YouTube needs a real video URL, including Shorts and live URLs the parser accepts. If the video has captions, the post is written from those. If it does not, the app tries to watch the video. A failed watch returns an error and asks you to try a captioned video or try again. It does not quietly write a post from the title. On BYOK, watching a video without captions needs your Google AI Studio key. The app will say so instead of substituting a platform key. That write is a teaser. The slides are a second pass, from an outline you paste on the carousel page. The full path is YouTube to LinkedIn posts and slides.

Article mode fetches a public link. A page the fetcher cannot read does not become a confident summary. Document mode requires an upload. A filename is not a source.

Series takes source text and a count. The slider on Create posts runs from 2 to 8, and the series prompt is told to output exactly that many posts. Post 1 sets the premise. Middle posts are supposed to stand alone and still pull forward. The last post concludes. Each post gets its own opening. "Part 2 of 5" can appear, and it is not allowed to be the only opening line.

The ideas library is the path when you want a starting point rather than a note you already wrote. It has a normal set and a humor set. Picking one fills the idea. It does not pick the tone for you, and it does not look at other people's LinkedIn posts. Radar is a feed of articles you can turn into drafts. It is not a score of what performed on LinkedIn this morning.

Posts are written with Grok 4.6. There is no model picker on Create posts. Managed calls go through the platform. Grok posts use web search. BYOK chat goes through your OpenRouter key, with the web plugin on those Grok post calls. The carousel page is the surface with a model picker. That split is described on the carousel generator page.

Hooks and a CTA are switches, not a separate product

The first line is always the hook, whether or not you open the hook controls. The controls decide how that line is produced.

Leave hooks off and the post opens on its own, still under the rules for that mode. Turn hooks on and you get one to five variations. The default is three. If you type a hook idea, every variation has to be built from that angle, not from a random formula. The variations come back as a list. The post itself opens on the first one. You can select another, and that selection replaces the first line of the draft. There is no catalog of 200 saved hooks, and there is no button that returns a hook with no post under it. The formulas those variations are allowed to use, mode by mode, are on the LinkedIn hook generator page.

The CTA switch is the same shape. Off, the post ends on a closing thought, and the writer is told not to emit a CTA marker. On, with an empty CTA idea, it writes a close that fits the post. On, with your own line ("the checklist is in the doc," "the office hours link"), it has to use that. The CTA is separated from the body by a marker so the app can show it as the ending rather than burying it in paragraph four. Short posts are stricter: the short prompt bans engagement bait even when you might be tempted to ask for comments.

An optional image is a different job. Image styles include a weird metaphor, a flat illustration, a photo of the topic, and a comic. The image is not a slide. Slides are the carousel PDF, with a brand kit, from the carousel page.

A working session, from note to queue

This is the path for one medium post you would actually put your name on. The same seats and the same edit step apply to the other six modes.

  1. Sign in and confirm a paid seat. Browsing Radar does not write. A missing seat returns a plan error from the API. The button in the interface is not the gate.
  2. Open Create posts and choose Medium. Set the tone before you write the idea. Personal Story if you have a scene. Teach & Explain if you have a mechanism. Step-by-Step if a reader should leave with a sequence. Humor only if the joke is already in the material.
  3. Paste the idea with the detail you would be willing to say out loud. A number you measured, a tool name, a timeframe, a thing that failed. If you do not have a detail, do not ask the model to invent one. Cut the claim or go get the detail.
  4. Decide the hook. If you already know the opening, put that sentence in the hook idea and ask for a few variations of it. If you do not, generate variations and read them without the body. The test is whether you would post that line with nothing after it. If you would not, pick another or write the line yourself.
  5. Leave the CTA off unless the post has a real next step. A newsletter, a doc, an office hour. "Follow for more" is the closer the short prompt already bans, and it reads the same way on a medium post.
  6. Write. Read the draft against the idea, not against a vibe. Delete any sentence that introduces a fact you did not provide. That includes a round number, a study, a quote from a founder you did not name, and a childhood scene.
  7. Use a refinement only for a specific change: "cut the second paragraph," "keep the factory example and drop the moral," "make the steps shorter." You have two on this draft. A vague "make it more me" spends one of them on a guess, because there is no stored "me" to aim at.
  8. Save it to the Library if you are not posting now. When you are ready, connect the personal profile with LinkedIn OAuth and either publish or add it to the queue. The queue uses the weekdays, the one time of day, and the timezone you save. Company pages are not a destination. The calendar behavior is on the scheduling tool page and the schedule workflow page.

A series uses the same seat and the same edit habit, with one extra check: read post 1 and the last post before you queue the middle. If post 1 only makes sense after post 3, the series prompt was not followed and the refinement should say so.

What a tone setting will not fix

A preset cannot supply a point of view you have not written down. Hot Take on top of "remote work has pros and cons" produces a louder version of a post with no stake. Analytical on top of a story with no numbers produces hedged prose, because the prompt would rather omit a statistic than fabricate one. That omission is the correct result. If you needed the number, it belongs in the idea.

The same limit applies to reach. Boykli does not show post analytics, and Algorithm is a plain-language read of LinkedIn's public notes. A tone called Viral Hook is an instruction about the first line. It is not a distribution promise. Publishing through the official OAuth flow is a statement about how the post leaves the app. It is not a statement that LinkedIn will show it to more people than a post you paste yourself.

Length labels and writer targets are close and not identical. The mode cards say 45–400, 400–1400, and 1400–3000 characters. The prompts aim at word bands inside those neighborhoods and then cap the paragraph count. If a draft runs long, cut it. The refinement can do that once. The character label on the card is a guide for which mode to open, not a hard counter on the screen.

FAQ

Does Boykli learn my writing style from old LinkedIn posts?

No. Tone is chosen on the draft you are writing. Voice Agent turns one live conversation into posts for that session. Edits and refinements change that draft. They do not build a style model for the next one.

Which tone sounds the least like AI?

Conversational and Personal Story are the two that force plain sentences and a specific situation. They still fail if the idea is generic. The banned openings on short posts remove a list of phrases people already recognize as generated. They do not hear the draft for you. Read the first two lines out loud before you queue anything.

Can I write in my own hook and still use the generator for the body?

Yes. Put the angle in the hook idea, turn variations on, and pick the line that matches what you meant. Selecting a variation replaces the first line. You can also edit the line after the draft exists. The body is still bound by the source you supplied.

Will it add hashtags, emoji, or "thoughts?"

The post prompts say no hashtags and no emoji. Short posts also ban comment bait and a list of stock openings. If one appears, delete it or spend a refinement on that sentence. Do not treat the prompt as a claim that every draft is perfect.

What happens if I ask for a tone the mode does not list?

The menu only shows tones for the active mode. You do not get Humor on a long post or Analytical on a short one. Switch mode if you need the other instruction set, and expect the length to change with it.

Does YouTube mode work when a video has no captions?

It tries to watch the video. If that watch fails, you get an error, not a title-only post. On BYOK that watch uses your Google AI Studio key.

Can I schedule the draft after I like the tone?

Yes, on the personal profile connected with LinkedIn OAuth, once the seat is active. You save weekdays, one time, and a timezone, then add the post, a series, or a carousel PDF to the queue. The app does not publish a company page and does not attach a first comment.

Is there a free generator?

Browsing Radar and Algorithm is available without a seat. The write itself is not. There is no free generation allowance sitting behind the browse.
