AuthoredUp alternative

People searching for an AuthoredUp alternative usually want one of two jobs. The first is LinkedIn formatting: bold, italics, lists, a preview of the "see more" fold, and a hook they can drop in. The second is analytics: impressions, saves, sends, and which of their own posts actually moved. AuthoredUp is built for both of those, inside a Chrome extension and a web editor.

Boykli is the other job. You already have a rough idea, a call, an article, a YouTube video, or a document, and you want a finished LinkedIn post, sometimes a carousel PDF, sometimes an image, then a place on a calendar for the personal profile you connect. It does not style text the way AuthoredUp does, and it does not report your post performance.

If the reason you pay AuthoredUp is the editor and the numbers, switching will feel like a downgrade. If the reason you are looking is that the draft itself is still the slow part, the products are solving different bottlenecks, and the prices are not a like-for-like swap.

Prices below are from AuthoredUp's pricing page and from boykli.com on 25 October 2026. Recheck both before you buy. Plan cards move.

The job, side by side

BoykliAuthoredUp
Where a post startsA rough idea, Voice Agent, a YouTube video, an article link, a document, a series, or the ideas library. Seven write modes: short, medium, long, YouTube, article, series, documentYou write it. A hook library (200+ openings on the detailed plan table; the plan card says 300+ hooks and endings), snippets, and Coauthor, an AI assistant in closed beta with credits on every plan
FormattingPlain post text. No bold, italic, bullet styling, or "see more" preview inside LinkedInEmoji, bold, italic, bullets, numbered lists, desktop and mobile preview, light and dark, including the fold
Carousels and imagesCarousel PDFs with a brand kit, plus images, on a paid seatAttachments in the editor: images, GIFs, video, documents, polls, and events. Video, polls, and events publish through the extension. This is not a designed carousel deck
SchedulingPersonal LinkedIn profile only. You pick the days, the time of day, and the timezone. Boykli does not pick a "best time" from your statsSchedule ahead through the Chrome extension. Calendar covers the profile, company pages, and groups. Best time is a heatmap from your own posting history
AnalyticsNo post analytics. The Algorithm page is a plain-language read of LinkedIn's public algorithm notes, not your impressionsDashboard, growth timeline, period vs last period, best type / day / length, side-by-side posts, saves, sends, reach, profile views, followers gained, CSV export, analytics API. Company pages included
Who it posts asThe personal profile you connect. No company page, no LinkedIn group, no team rolesPersonal profile, company pages you admin (no per-page charge), and groups. Business adds multi-profile collaboration
What you payBYOK $29/month or Managed $88/monthIndividual $19.95/month for one profile, or $16.63/month billed yearly ($199.50/year). Business $14.95 per profile per month, minimum three profiles, or $12.46 per profile billed yearly ($149.50/year). Custom Growth is annual, minimum ten profiles

AuthoredUp's own comparison table is the source for the feature rows: readability grade, multi-device preview, scheduling through the extension, advanced metrics, and company pages on every plan. Business is where draft collaboration, team analytics, and organization roles start. Individual does not include those.

Formatting is the part Boykli does not copy

LinkedIn's native composer is a plain box. AuthoredUp's reason for existing is to fix that box: styled text that survives publishing, a preview of how the post looks on desktop and mobile before you hit post, and a length or readability signal so a wall of text is obvious while you are still editing. The extension also sits in the LinkedIn feed, so formatting, drafts, scheduling, and analytics are available without treating a separate website as the only place you write.

Boykli does not do that. Posts leave the app as text. There is no Unicode bold, no italic pass, no bullet styling, and no live replica of the LinkedIn feed with the "see more" cut. How those letters are built, what they cost against the 3,000-character cap, and why a code fence never becomes a block is in LinkedIn text formatting. If a client judges the draft by how the bold lines break, AuthoredUp is the tool that shows that. Pasting a Boykli draft into AuthoredUp, or into LinkedIn and then formatting it, is a reasonable split. Replacing the formatter with Boykli is not.

Hooks and snippets are the same category. AuthoredUp ships a library of opening lines and endings, plus unlimited snippets you save yourself. Boykli does not ship a hook catalog. The writing starts from your material: notes, a conversation in Voice Agent, a link, a video, or a file. The story of why it was built is about that constraint on purpose. A template opener is a different product decision.

Coauthor, AuthoredUp's AI writing assistant, is listed as closed beta on the pricing page, with credits included and more available as an add-on. It is not the same thing as Boykli's write modes. Treat it as an assistant inside an editor you still drive, and confirm the current credit rules on AuthoredUp's site before you count on it for a weekly volume of posts. If the other product in the search is Supergrow, the writing-and-carousel comparison, with both price cards, is AuthoredUp vs Supergrow.

Analytics is the other part Boykli does not copy

AuthoredUp's analytics are about your account. The pricing page lists a performance dashboard, follower growth against the posts that caused the jumps, a snapshot of this period versus the last (posts, impressions, reactions, comments, engagement rate, as total, average, and median), and a breakdown of your best post type, day, time, length, and readability. You can pin one post and compare it with another. Advanced metrics include saves, sends, reach, profile views, and followers gained, collected for personal profile posts. History can be pulled through the extension, or a thinner import can come from LinkedIn's own data export. CSV export and an analytics API are on every plan. In-network versus out-of-network impressions are documented in AuthoredUp's help center as part of advanced post statistics.

None of that exists in Boykli. There is no impressions chart, no saves and sends, no export of your LinkedIn stats, and no model that tells you Tuesday at 8:15 is your slot. The Algorithm page explains LinkedIn's public algorithm notes in plain language. It is reading material. It is not a report on the posts you already published. Radar is a feed of articles you can turn into drafts. It is not an analytics screen either.

If a weekly review of "what worked" is why the subscription feels worth it, stay on AuthoredUp. Boykli will not reconstruct that review. People who want a broader LinkedIn suite (analytics plus comments or leads) are usually comparing a different product; that comparison is Taplio alternative.

What you actually pay for

AuthoredUp Individual is one connected profile at $19.95 a month, or $199.50 a year, which they show as $16.63 a month. Company pages you admin are not an extra line item. The free start does not ask for a card on the pricing page. Business is $14.95 per profile per month with a three-profile minimum, so the floor is three times $14.95, not a single $14.95 seat. Yearly Business is $149.50 per profile per year, shown as $12.46 a month. People who manage or ghostwrite without connecting their own profile are not billed as extra profiles. Growth is a custom annual offer with a ten-profile minimum.

Boykli is two public seats. BYOK is $29 a month. Managed is $88 a month. Both are the same product surface. Managed includes monthly caps: 210 posts, 150 carousels, 150 images, 25 Voice Agent sessions, and 130 post refinements. BYOK uses your own OpenRouter key for chat and images and your own Google AI Studio key for Voice Agent. Boykli does not add a monthly generation cap on that seat. You still pay those providers. A paid seat is required before the app will write, create a carousel or image, publish to LinkedIn, or schedule. Logged-in visitors can browse Radar and Algorithm without one.

On sticker price, AuthoredUp Individual is cheaper than either Boykli seat. That comparison only holds if the editor and the analytics are the product you wanted. A Boykli seat is more expensive because the monthly work is generation: posts, carousels, images, and voice, plus a queue. It is a bad deal if you already write every post yourself and you bought AuthoredUp to see the fold and the stats.

A practical week on Boykli

This is the path the product is built for. It assumes the words are not done yet.

  1. Collect the raw material before you open the composer. A note from a customer call, a YouTube link, an article, or a PDF is enough. Voice Agent is the path when the material is still a conversation: you talk, and the session becomes posts. Radar is the path when you want a feed of articles to start from. Algorithm is optional reading on how LinkedIn describes distribution. It will not score the draft.
  2. Write on Create posts. Pick the length that matches the idea: short, medium, or long. Use article, YouTube, or document when the source is a link, a video, or a file. Use series when you want several connected posts from one idea, not one post rewritten five times.
  3. If the post should be a deck, build the carousel on the carousel page and apply the brand kit there. The output is a PDF. The caption is the post text you pair with it. An image is a separate generation, not a slide inside the deck.
  4. Read the draft yourself for the fold. Boykli will not show you LinkedIn's mobile preview. If line breaks, bold, or a hook from a saved snippet matter, do that pass in AuthoredUp or in LinkedIn. Do not expect the Boykli text to arrive pre-styled.
  5. Connect the personal profile and put the post on the queue. You choose the days, the time of day, and the timezone. The next item takes the next open slot, and you can reorder. The queue does not read your analytics, because there are none to read. How that calendar behaves is covered in LinkedIn scheduling tool. Company pages and groups are out of scope. If the post has to go out as a page, AuthoredUp's extension scheduling covers that and Boykli does not.
  6. Keep finished pieces in the library. Republishing an old winner because the numbers say so is an AuthoredUp workflow (smart post reuse is on their plan table). Boykli will not rank last quarter's posts by engagement.

A week that is mostly "format what I already wrote, then check impressions" never enters step 2 in a useful way. That week belongs in AuthoredUp.

Who should move, and who should not

Move toward Boykli if most of the hour disappears before a draft exists: turning calls into posts, turning a video or a document into a post, building a carousel with your colors, and parking it on your personal profile. The $29 or $88 seat is paying for that production, not for a prettier composer.

Stay on AuthoredUp if you already write, and you pay for the preview, the styled text, the hook and snippet library, company-page posting, or the analytics. Business is the stay-put plan when several profiles share drafts and a team calendar. Boykli has no organization roles, no ghostwriter seats, and no shared client profiles.

Use both only if you are honest about the handoff. Boykli produces the draft, the carousel, and the personal-profile queue. AuthoredUp formats, previews, posts as a page, and tells you what happened after it went live. Paying for both and expecting either one to absorb the other's job wastes one of the subscriptions.

FAQ

Does Boykli format LinkedIn posts with bold and italics?

No. AuthoredUp's editor adds emoji, bold, italic, bullets, and numbered lists, and previews the feed on desktop and mobile. Boykli stores and publishes plain post text. If formatting is the requirement, Boykli is the wrong alternative.

Does Boykli show impressions, saves, or the best time to post?

No. AuthoredUp's analytics page is the product that does period comparisons, advanced metrics, CSV export, and a best-time heatmap from your history. Boykli's Algorithm page explains public algorithm notes. It does not read your post results, and the scheduler does not choose a time from them. You set the slot.

Is the cheaper AuthoredUp plan the same kind of tool as the $29 Boykli plan?

No. Individual at $19.95 a month (or $16.63 a month yearly) is one profile of editor, preview, drafts, snippets, hooks, scheduling through the extension, and analytics. Boykli BYOK at $29 a month is generation and a personal-profile queue, using your own model keys, without those analytics or that formatter. Managed at $88 a month adds Boykli's hosted models inside the caps above. Compare the job, then the price.

Can I schedule company pages from Boykli?

No. Scheduling is the personal profile you connect. AuthoredUp lists company pages on every plan at no per-page charge, including scheduling as the page through the extension, plus group posts. Teams that need several profiles are on AuthoredUp Business, minimum three profiles.

Do I still have to write the post?

On AuthoredUp, yes, aside from Coauthor in closed beta. On Boykli, you bring the idea or the source, and the app writes the draft in the mode you pick. You still have to decide whether the draft is something you would put your name on. A paid seat is required for that write. Browsing Radar and Algorithm is available without one.

What happens to my AuthoredUp history if I leave?

Boykli cannot import it. Your impressions, saves, and post comparisons stay in AuthoredUp (or in a CSV you already exported from them). Cancelling AuthoredUp before you have that export means Boykli has nothing to show in its place.
