Why raw ChatGPT LinkedIn posts fail and how to fix them

A raw ChatGPT LinkedIn post fails when the only input is a topic. "Write a LinkedIn post about founder personal branding" has no buyer, no date, no number, and no decision. The model fills those holes with a hook it has seen thousands of times, a percentage nobody measured, and a closer that asks for a comment. The draft looks finished. A reader who works in your market can tell it was written for a category, not for a person.

Boykli is a different place to do the rewrite. Create posts takes a core idea, a YouTube URL, an article link, a document, or series source text, then a mode and a tone. The writer is told to keep your nouns, skip hashtags and emoji, and refuse stats, studies, quotes, and anecdotes that are not in what you supplied. It does not import a ChatGPT thread, and it does not learn a voice from your old LinkedIn posts. The fix is the note you bring, then a draft you read before it leaves.

Logged-in visitors can browse Radar and Algorithm without a plan. Writing, images, carousels, Voice Agent, publishing, and scheduling need a paid seat. BYOK is $29 a month. Managed is $88 a month. Prices are the public ones on boykli.com.

What "raw" means

Raw is a fresh chat whose prompt is the subject line and nothing else. Custom instructions, a long memory, and a pasted transcript are a different job. They can reduce the worst lines. They still leave you copying text into LinkedIn, and they still keep any number that slipped into the source.

Three setups sit next to each other:

Topic prompt in ChatGPTSame chat, with your note and written bansBoykli Create posts
What you type"Write a LinkedIn post about X"The situation, the number if you have one, a length, and a ban on invented proofA core idea of at least 10 characters, or a URL or file, plus a mode and a tone
Opening lineOften a stock hook the model has reused all yearBetter once you name the openers you refuseThe first line is the hook. Short mode is told to refuse a fixed opener list
ProofA round percentage or a study is commonOnly the figures you left in the note, if you checkThe prompt forbids stats, studies, quotes, and anecdotes that are not in the inputs
LengthWhatever the reply felt likeOnly if you set a ceiling and countedPage labels: short 45–400 characters, medium 400–1400, long 1400–3000
Hashtags and emojiOften a row under the postOnly if you banned themThe post prompts say no hashtags and no emoji
After the words existYou paste into LinkedInYou paste into LinkedInYou edit, then publish or queue on the personal profile connected with LinkedIn OAuth
What survives next weekThe chat, if you keep itThe chat, if you keep itThe draft in Library. The tone choice does not become a persona

The middle column is a discipline, not a product. People who write that prompt carefully get a usable paragraph. People who stop at the topic line get the specimen below. How a named tone sits on top of a real note, once you are inside Boykli, is the LinkedIn post generator. How a provider tab differs from a BYOK seat on the invoice is BYOK LinkedIn tool.

The specimen

This is a composite of the topic-only shape. It is not a capture of one ChatGPT reply, and it is not a post anyone should publish.

In today's fast-paced world, founders who ignore LinkedIn are leaving pipeline on the table. Here's the thing: 73% of B2B buyers check your profile before the first call.

Your personal brand is your moat. Be authentic. Share value. Show up every day.

Agree? Drop your biggest LinkedIn challenge below.

Count the holes.

The opener could sit on a payroll post, a fitness post, or a CRM post. "Here's the thing" is a throat-clear. The 73% has no denominator, no year, and no source in the prompt, because the prompt had no source. "Be authentic" and "share value" are instructions to the author, not information for the reader. "Agree?" asks for a tap and withholds the method. LinkedIn has said it intends to show less of that closer. The March 2026 feed note from Tim Jurka uses "Comment 'Yes' if you agree" as the example of engagement bait, set against posts that share an actionable breakdown or a specific perspective. The line-by-line test is LinkedIn engagement versus value.

Now the same founder, with the fact written first:

The design partner walked because the proposal named three features and zero dates. They needed SSO before the pilot. We had quoted SSO as phase two. The next proposal opens with the week SSO can be turned on, then the rest of the scope.

That note is already a post. A model is only useful if it keeps the partner, the feature, and the sequencing mistake, and if it refuses to decorate them with a study.

Seven failures, and the edit for each

FailureWhat the reader seesThe edit
Stock opener"In today's fast-paced world," "Here's the thing," "Unpopular opinion"Delete it. Sentence one is the decision, the date, or the number you actually have
Invented proof"73% of buyers," "a Stanford study," "we 10x'd pipeline"Remove it, or replace it with a count from your own system and the window it covers
Flattened nouns"Leaders should invest in personal branding"Put the product, the objection, and the person back in. "Leaders" is the model giving up
Bait closer"Agree?", "Thoughts?", "Comment YES and I'll send the checklist"End on the takeaway. The checklist belongs in the post if you promised one
Length missA 900-word essay, or five one-line punches with nothing in themChoose short, medium, or long before you generate. LinkedIn's own ceiling is 3,000 characters
Fold missThe point sits in paragraph three, under "see more"Move the decision into the first sentence, then check a phone width
Hashtag tailFive tags under a thin paragraphDelete the row. Tags do not supply the missing fact

Short mode in Boykli is told to refuse a specific opener list: "Here's the thing," "Let that sink in," "Unpopular opinion," "Hot take," "The truth is," "In a world where," "Nobody talks about this," "This is your reminder," and starting the post with "I." Closers such as "Agree?", "Thoughts?", and "Comment below" are on the same ban list for that mode. Medium and long posts ban hashtags, emoji, and invented proof. None of that is a promise that a given draft will clear your ear. It is the spec the writer receives before you see the text. A week of keeping one decision inside that spec is LinkedIn thought leadership automation.

Two failures need a longer look, because people try to fix them with a second prompt and make them worse.

Invented proof survives a "make it more specific" follow-up. Specific, to a model with an empty note, means a sharper fake number. "Make it punchier" often means a shorter fake number. The only safe follow-up names the change and the source: "Cut the percentage. Open on the SSO week. Do not add a study." If you paste a ChatGPT draft into Boykli as the core idea, any statistic already in that draft is now part of the input, and the writer is allowed to keep it. Strip invented figures before you paste. Better: paste the original note, not the decorated draft.

The fold is a screen, not a character badge. LinkedIn documents a ceiling of 3,000 characters for a post. It does not publish how many characters show before "see more." Measurements people repeat put the opening near 210 characters on desktop and near 140 on a phone, and several guides describe about three lines. A blank line spends a whole line. Boykli does not draw that feed and does not stamp a "see more" marker in the editor. Create posts returns plain text. The test is in LinkedIn post preview: paste the finished lines into LinkedIn's web composer and the phone app, or into a tool that draws both columns, and confirm the sentence you care about is visible before the tap.

What LinkedIn has said about generic AI text

LinkedIn's June 2026 note, Keeping conversations real, says content that looks generated and lacks a clear perspective is less likely to be widely distributed beyond the immediate network. The same note describes using AI to help write as acceptable when the post is still your perspective. Initial tests, LinkedIn's own, identified generic content correctly 94% of the time. That 94% is not an independent audit and not a score on your account.

The September 2026 note, How LinkedIn is tackling AI slop, defines slop as low-effort, polished, and missing a point of view: generic, repetitive, recycled, or built to game attention. Views of content their classifier labeled as slop were down 40% in the figure they published. That is a drop in views of labeled slop, not a drop for every draft a model touched.

A raw topic prompt is the shape those notes describe. A post that names the SSO week, the partner, and the sequencing mistake is the shape they say can still be drafted with a model. Boykli does not read LinkedIn's classifier, does not see "Seems like AI slop" reports, and does not promise a distribution tier. Your impression count still lives on LinkedIn.

The fix, in order

Do this once on a real decision from the last month. The order matters. Generating first and "adding your voice" second is how the 73% gets in.

  1. Write the note in your own words before any model sees it. One situation. The constraint. What you decided. If a number matters, include what it counts and over what window. Ten characters is the minimum Create posts will accept for a core idea. A usable note is a few sentences. If you do not have the number, leave the number out.
  2. If you stay in ChatGPT for this one draft, paste that note and add the bans in the same message: length under the band you want, no statistic that is not in the note, no hashtags, no emoji, no "Agree?" closer, first line is the decision. Read the reply against the note with a pen. Delete any noun you did not supply.
  3. If the draft should live in a library and go out on a schedule, use Create posts on a paid seat. Pick the mode from the length or the source. Short, medium, and long take the note. YouTube takes a video URL and is not allowed to write from the title when the watch fails. Article takes a link the app could read. Document takes the file, not the filename. Series takes source text and returns several posts. The tone menu changes with the mode. A short post can be Humor. A long post cannot. Those names are instructions for this draft.
  4. Read the result the way you read the ChatGPT reply. The first line should still be your fact. If a refinement is needed, say the change in one sentence. Each write mode allows two refinements. Managed accounts also have a monthly cap of 130 post refinements and 210 posts. BYOK has no Boykli generation cap. You still pay OpenRouter for chat and images, and Google AI Studio for Voice Agent.
  5. Check the opening on a phone width, using the preview method above. Then save the exact text you are willing to publish. Manual edits in the editor are yours. They do not train a profile for the next post.
  6. Publish now, or queue the post, on the one personal profile you connect with LinkedIn OAuth. The queue does not post a company Page, and it does not comment, like, or send invitations. A carousel is a separate PDF on the carousel page, 2 to 8 slides, with its own generation. It is not a second half of this text draft.

The default post model on both seats is Grok 4.6. Create posts has no model picker. A ChatGPT window remains a ChatGPT window. Boykli does not send your draft through that product, and a Managed seat's carousel picker (Grok 4.6, Gemini 3.5 Flash, Claude Sonnet 5, gpt-5.6-terra) is not the post writer.

If the material is something you would rather say than type, Voice Agent runs a live interview, keeps the transcript of that session, and writes three drafts from it. It does not ingest a ChatGPT export.

A second pass on the specimen

Medium mode, Personal Story, source equal to the SSO note and nothing else, should be able to land near this:

The design partner walked last Tuesday. The proposal listed three features. It did not list a date for SSO, and SSO was the thing they needed before the pilot. We had put it in phase two because it was annoying to scope.

The next proposal opens with the week we can turn SSO on. The rest of the product sits under that date. A feature list without a sequence is a catalog. They were not shopping for a catalog.

If a draft of that note comes back with a percentage, a "moat," or "Agree?", the draft failed the spec. Refine once: "Remove any statistic. Remove the closer. Keep the Tuesday and the phase-two mistake." If the second refinement still adds a study, edit the lines yourself. Publishing the study because the model liked it is the original failure, moved one tab to the right.

Hooks are a separate choice. A surprising stat is a hook formula only when the stat is in the note. The formulas, and the versions that become fiction, are on LinkedIn hook generator.

When the ChatGPT tab is the right tool

Use the chat when you are still finding the sentence, when you want a private scratchpad, or when you are not going to publish today. A brainstorm that stays in the chat cannot fail on LinkedIn. The failure starts at paste.

Stay in the chat if you need a model Boykli's post path does not offer. Posts go out as Grok 4.6, with web search on the managed xAI path and OpenRouter's web plugin on BYOK. There is no switch that says "use my ChatGPT subscription for this post."

Move the finished note into Boykli when you want the length bands, the ban list, Library, and a queue on the personal profile. The founder note on why that seat exists is building Boykli.

FAQ

Does LinkedIn punish every post that a model touched?

LinkedIn's June 2026 note draws the line at perspective. Generic text that lacks a clear point of view is less likely to travel past the people who already follow you. Using AI to help write is described as acceptable when the post is still yours. A topic-only prompt is the first case. A note that names a real decision is the second. Boykli cannot see which bucket LinkedIn put you in.

Can I paste a ChatGPT draft into Boykli and "humanize" it?

You can paste text into the core idea. The writer rewrites under the mode you picked. It does not run a detector, and it does not restore facts the first model invented. If the draft says 73%, that 73% is now source material. Delete it first, or paste the original note instead.

Will this sound like my ChatGPT custom instructions?

No. Boykli does not read your OpenAI account, your custom instructions, or your past LinkedIn posts. A tone is a setting on this draft. Voice Agent is a transcript of one live interview, not a persona applied to every later post.

What does a seat cost, and what is capped?

BYOK is $29 a month: your OpenRouter key for chat and images, your Google AI Studio key for Voice Agent and for YouTube when a video has no captions, and no Boykli generation cap. Managed is $88 a month: platform models, 210 posts, 150 carousels, 150 images, 25 Voice Agent sessions, and 130 post refinements. Each draft still allows only two refinements on either seat. A cancelled seat works until the current period ends. An on-hold seat does not.

Why do the posts still sound smooth after the fix?

Smooth is the model's default rhythm. The fix is not a rougher synonym pass. The fix is one concrete detail from your week in the first two lines, and zero details from a week you did not have. If the sentence could be posted by a competitor without changing a noun, it is still the raw draft.

Does Boykli schedule the ChatGPT text unchanged?

The queue publishes the text you saved on a post in Library, to one personal profile. There is no importer that pulls a ChatGPT conversation in and posts it untouched. Edit until the text matches what you want live, save that text, then schedule it.
