Figma to LinkedIn carousel: export dimensions and PDF conversion

A Figma to LinkedIn carousel handoff is a PDF handoff. LinkedIn does not open a .fig file. The feed paginates one document, and the first page is the cover people see before they swipe. Boykli can produce that PDF from a topic. It does not continue a Figma frame. If the pixels in the file are the design you want, export them and upload that file. If the argument is the design, paste the words and let the carousel page build a new deck.

The two frame sizes that hold up on a phone are the same two canvases in LinkedIn carousel dimensions: square, 1080 by 1080, and portrait, 1080 by 1350. A Canva file of those sizes is a parallel path, written up in Canva vs a dedicated LinkedIn carousel generator. This page is only the Figma frame, the export scale, and the single PDF.

What LinkedIn takes from the file

LinkedIn Help, "Upload and share documents on LinkedIn," states the ceiling: the file cannot exceed 100 MB and 300 pages. Supported types are PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX, and PDF. After the post is up, you can edit the description or remove the post. You cannot replace the document. Members who can see the post can download it as a PDF. That help article does not publish a required pixel size.

A 1920 by 1080 presentation frame still uploads. On a phone it is a short strip, and body type that looked fine on a laptop becomes a caption. A 1080 by 1920 story frame still uploads. The document viewer is not a story player. Pixel size is your choice. Page count and file weight are LinkedIn's.

Three hundred pages is a ceiling. A swipe that people finish is a cover, a handful of claims, and a close. Boykli stops its form at 8 slides. A 20-frame Figma file is a document you upload yourself in LinkedIn. It is outside the generator.

One document per post. A folder of PNGs is a different composer action, a multi-image post, compared in LinkedIn multi-image vs carousel. The carousel people mean in this search is the PDF.

Frame size before you draw

Set the frame's width and height in the design panel before you place type. Resizing a finished 1920 by 1080 frame into 1080 by 1350 reflows every auto-layout stack. LinkedIn will accept mixed page sizes. The swipe jumps. Every frame in the file uses one size.

Mixed framesDifferent W or H in one PDF—The swipe jumpsKeep one sizeOne size for the whole deck

Portrait is the square frame plus 270 pixels of height (1350 − 1080). That band is a second sentence or a label. 1080 ÷ 1350 = 0.8, which is 4 ÷ 5. A frame at 1200 × 1500 is also 4:5, and LinkedIn will take it, because pixel size is not the gate. 1080 is the width you can check in a PDF reader's page box, and it is the width Boykli renders, so a later rebuild sits on the same math.

Lock the frame to a fixed width and height. Auto layout that hugs the text will grow the last frame and you will export a deck of different pages. Turn on clip content so a shadow or a line that escapes the frame does not become a second, unexpected page size.

Leave a margin inside the frame. Boykli's generated slides use 60 pixels of padding, so the type column is 960 pixels wide on a 1080 canvas (box-sizing: border-box). On a cover, the generator also keeps the headline out of the bottom 220 pixels, because a saved brand kit draws the logo, the handle, and the profile photo into that strip. A Figma file you upload yourself does not receive that strip. The 220 pixels are a Boykli layout rule, described on the dimensions page, and the kit itself is on LinkedIn brand kit. For the Figma file, a margin near 60 pixels still matters: edge type kisses the frame, and the feed scales the page. Do not park the only sentence in the bottom tenth of the cover.

Body type that is refined at 14 pixels on a laptop is a gray smear once 1080 pixels are fitted to a phone column. On the Boykli canvas, body type floors at 21 pixels, labels sit around 20 to 28, and a headline longer than about 20 characters stays at 56 pixels or under. A Figma file can ignore that ramp. The phone will not.

Export one PDF, at 1x, in swipe order

Figma gives you more than one PDF control. Use the one that returns a single file whose page count equals your frame count, then open it before LinkedIn sees it.

The whole-page command is File → Export frames to PDF (on the web, that item sits under the Figma logo menu). Guides that walk that dialog, including KASOU's PDF export write-up, describe two details that decide the swipe:

  • Page order follows position on the canvas, from the top-left, not the order of rows in the layers panel.
  • A hidden frame is skipped. A frame you grouped is also skipped. The command wants frames, sitting on the page.

Lay the frames in one horizontal row, shared top edge, numbered 01 through 06 in the layer name so you can see them. A second row is easy to mis-sort: a frame that sits a few pixels higher than its neighbor can become page 1. Gaps between frames do not become blank pages. Position does.

The selection command is the other native path. Select only the frames that belong in the post. In the right panel, Export, add a setting, choose PDF, scale 1x. When several frames are selected, the panel can show a control that merges them into one PDF. Turn that on if you see it. If the download is a zip, or a single page, only one frame was selected or the merge was off. Count the pages in Preview or Acrobat. LinkedIn will paginate whatever you give it, including a one-page file you thought was six.

Scale is the other failure. 1x writes a page the size of the frame. A 1080 × 1350 frame at 2x is a 2160 × 2700 page. The ratio is still 4:5, and LinkedIn will still take it, but you can no longer use "1080 wide" as the check, and photos double the weight. For a type deck, 1x is the file. If a photograph looks soft, place a larger image inside the 1080 frame and keep the export at 1x. Exporting the frame at 2x to "make LinkedIn sharper" changes the page box without changing the ratio.

If that dialog offers a color profile, pick sRGB for a screen document. Display P3 can shift on a laptop that is not a wide-gamut panel. Open the PDF on a second machine, or at least in a reader that is not Figma, and look at page 1 at a phone width.

Plugins that merge frames, reorder thumbnails, and keep text selectable exist because the native commands are easy to mis-click. They are optional. A six-page type deck does not need one if File → Export frames to PDF already returned six pages in the right order. LinkedIn does not follow links inside the PDF. A plugin feature that preserves prototype links does nothing in the feed.

A six-frame file, in order

This is a portrait deck about a pricing-page change. Each frame is 1080 × 1350. Nothing in it is a metric you did not measure.

  1. Cover. "The pricing page buried the annual plan." One sentence. Margin around it. Bottom tenth empty.
  2. What people saw. Monthly price first, annual price behind a toggle, no line that said what the toggle did.
  3. What you changed. Annual is the first price. Monthly is the second line. The toggle label names both.
  4. What you refused. A countdown, a "most popular" badge with no definition, a third tier invented to make the middle one look cheap.
  5. What you will watch. Share of checkouts that pick annual, for the next two weeks, from the billing table you already have. The number is not on the slide until you have it.
  6. Close. "Default the plan you want them to buy." The profile link can live in the LinkedIn caption. The slide does not need a URL in 14-pixel type.

Six frames, one row, export at 1x. The PDF has six pages. Page 1 is the cover sentence. If page 1 is frame 4, the canvas order is wrong. Fix the row and export again. You cannot swap the file after the post is live.

Group exported instead of the framePage is a crop of the cardSelect the frame, the thing whose W and H are 1080 and 1350

A six-page deck of type and a logo is nowhere near 100 MB. A frame full of unflattened images, at 2x, is how people hit the cap. Stay with 1x and the frame you measured.

Text that is still text in the PDF is what you want if you later pull a lesson out of the file. Outlined or rasterized type looks the same in the feed and gives an extractor nothing to read. Check that you can select a sentence in the PDF. If you cannot, the file is a picture of the frames.

The queue limit is the one people miss. How to schedule a PDF on LinkedIn is about a carousel the product saved. A finished Figma PDF is a file you attach in LinkedIn's composer, now, unless you rebuild the words as a Boykli deck and queue that new file. The two PDFs are different files.

When the Figma PDF is the right file

Keep the export and upload it yourself when any of these are true.

The slide needs a photograph, a product screenshot, or a chart that is an image. Boykli slides do not place that image. Redrawing the chart as a sentence is a different deck. Leaving the image in Figma is the honest path.

You are posting as a company Page. Boykli's LinkedIn connection publishes the personal profile. A Page post is LinkedIn's composer, or another tool, with this PDF attached.

The file is already finished, and the layout is the point: a specific grid, a wordmark, a diagram. Uploading that PDF into the carousel page will not "continue" the frames. Publish the file you have. The same rule is on PDF to LinkedIn carousel.

You need more than 8 pages. Boykli stops the form at 8. LinkedIn will take the longer PDF, up to 300 pages, if you upload it.

When to rebuild the words in Boykli

Use the carousel page when the asset is an argument and you do not yet need the Figma layout.

You have a note, a decision, or one lesson, and the frames were only a place to hold sentences. Copy the sentences into the topic. Stay under 2,000 characters. Set the slide count to match the frames you actually need, from 2 to 8. Pick portrait when a slide is a label plus two lines, square when it is one card. Pick a design. Save the brand kit first if you changed canvas, accent, logo, photo, or handle. An unsaved color change blocks the button. If brand colors are on, the only design available is Normal.

Read every slide against the note. A number you did not type is a failed deck. Change the topic and create again. That is a new carousel generation. On Managed, generations count toward the 150 included in the month. Reading the preview and downloading the PDF again do not. BYOK uses your OpenRouter key and has no Boykli monthly cap on that seat.

Set the document title, up to 120 characters. LinkedIn shows it as the name of the PDF. Write the caption, up to 3,000 characters. The title is required when you add the PDF to the queue. The caption is the commentary above the file. They are different fields.

A Figma PDF that still has selectable text can pass through Create posts, Document mode, first. That mode takes a PDF, a Word file, or Markdown, up to 7 MB, and pulls a lesson. You then paste the lesson into the carousel topic. The carousel page still never sees the Figma frames. A PDF whose type was rasterized will not yield the sentences. In that case, copy from the Figma text layers.

The map of topic, idea, and file starts is LinkedIn carousel generator. This page does not repeat it. The claim on the slide stays yours either way. The longer version of that choice is building Boykli.

Check the PDF before it is public

  • Every page is the same size. Page 1 matches the frame: 1080 × 1350 or 1080 × 1080, at 1x.
  • Page count equals the frames you meant. Page 1 is the cover.
  • You can select a sentence, unless you already decided the file is a picture.
  • The margin holds. The cover still makes sense when the column is phone-width.
  • The file is far under 100 MB.
  • You can live with viewers downloading it. LinkedIn Help says they can save it as a PDF.
  • You know a typo is a new post.
  • If the file is the Figma export, you are ready to attach it in LinkedIn yourself. If the file is a Boykli deck, the queue can hold it for the next slot on the personal profile.

FAQ

Can Boykli open a Figma file or a Figma URL?

No. There is no .fig import and no Figma link field. The carousel page takes a topic of up to 2,000 characters and returns a new PDF. The layout is one of Boykli's eight designs, on a 1080-wide page.

Can I drop the exported PDF onto the carousel page and keep the frames?

No. The form does not upload a PDF as slides. If the Figma file is the design, attach that PDF in LinkedIn. If you want a new deck, paste the words.

Should I export at 2x so LinkedIn looks sharper?

Export the frame at 1x. A 2x export doubles the page to 2160 × 2700 on a 1080 × 1350 frame. The ratio stays 4:5, the audit gets harder, and the file gets heavier. Put resolution inside the frame, in the image, and keep the page box at the size you designed.

Why is the cover the third page?

File → Export frames to PDF orders frames by canvas position, top-left first, not by the layers panel. Put the frames in one row with a shared top edge, export again, and count pages in a PDF reader before you upload.

Why did I get six PDFs instead of one?

The selection export saved each frame separately, usually as a zip, because the merge control was off or the frames were not selected together. Turn on the single-PDF control when the export panel shows it, or use File → Export frames to PDF and confirm one file with the right page count.

Will a PNG export swipe like a carousel?

A sequence of PNGs is not the document post. LinkedIn's document upload wants one PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX, or PDF. Several images go through the multi-image composer, which is a different feed unit.

What if the font changes in the PDF?

The family did not survive the export. Set the type in a font you can open on the machine that will check the file, export again at 1x, and select a sentence in a reader. Fix it before publish. The document cannot be replaced later.

Can I schedule the Figma PDF in Boykli?

The queue accepts a carousel Boykli saved, with a document title, on the personal profile you connected. It does not accept a drop of the Figma export. Post that file from LinkedIn's composer. Rebuild the words in Boykli if you want the slot.

What does the seat cost if I rebuild the deck?

BYOK is $29 a month. Managed is $88 a month. Managed includes 150 carousel generations in the month. BYOK uses your OpenRouter key and has no Boykli monthly cap. Creating, publishing, and scheduling require the seat. A Figma export you upload yourself in LinkedIn does not use that generation.
