Hootsuite vs Taplio for LinkedIn scheduling and personal branding

Hootsuite and Taplio both schedule a LinkedIn post. The invoices and the rest of the product do not match. Hootsuite is a social suite sold per user: one calendar for up to ten accounts on Standard, an inbox, listening, AI drafting, and, on higher plans, approvals and custom reports. Taplio is a LinkedIn growth product sold as one subscription: a viral-post library, a scheduler, analytics, and, from Growth upward, AI writing and a comment workflow. Pro adds lead outreach.

People search “Hootsuite vs Taplio” when a personal brand and a company social calendar have been mixed into one shopping list. A founder who posts three times a week under their own name is not the same buyer as a social team that also runs Instagram, X, a Facebook Page, and a LinkedIn company Page. The first buyer is overpaying if the only missing piece is a clock. The second buyer is under-tooled if the only product on the table is a LinkedIn swipe file.

Prices below are from Hootsuite’s plans page and Taplio’s pricing page, read on 26 October 2026. LinkedIn behavior in Hootsuite is from Hootsuite’s help article Create a LinkedIn post, updated 28 September 2026, and Connect a LinkedIn account. Recheck both vendors before you pay. Plan cards move. Month-to-month Hootsuite rates are higher than the annual figures, and Hootsuite’s FAQ does not print those month-to-month numbers.

Boykli is a third product. It writes the draft, builds a carousel PDF, and queues that post on the personal profile you connect. The narrower pages are Taplio alternative and LinkedIn scheduling tool. How a member queue differs from a company Page tool is in LinkedIn personal profile scheduler.

What each product is built to do

Name the author and the networks before you name the logo.

  • The post goes out under your name, on LinkedIn only, and the words still have to be written from a call, a note, a video, or a document.
  • The post goes out under your name, and you also want other people’s LinkedIn posts as a library, a comment system, and a list of people who engaged.
  • The same week includes a LinkedIn profile, a LinkedIn Page, and other networks, plus an inbox and a report a teammate can open.
  • A second person has to approve the copy, or a care team has to assign incoming messages.

Taplio’s plan cards answer the second job, and part of the first once you leave Starter. Hootsuite’s plan cards answer the third job, and the fourth once you are on Advanced. A personal-brand essay does not require a ten-account social operating system. A brand calendar with an approval step does not fit inside a LinkedIn-only credit meter.

Plan prices

Hootsuite bills per user. The figures on the plans page are annual-billing rates, in US dollars, before tax. The FAQ states the floors in one sentence: paid plans start at $99 for Standard, $199 for Professional, and range up to $399 for Advanced. Enterprise is custom. Monthly billing exists on Standard, Professional, and Advanced, and annual billing is the lower per-user rate. Because the month-to-month number is not printed in that FAQ, this table uses the annual rate only. A second teammate is a second seat at the same rate.

Taplio bills one LinkedIn subscription. The monthly cards are $39, $69, and $199. The comparison table on the same page shows $32, $49, and $149, which is the annual presentation. A team or agency offer is separate: multi-account, shared analytics, admin / writer / client roles, and a discount stated as up to 30%.

One founder on Hootsuite Standard pays more than Taplio Pro’s monthly card ($199) only after a second seat, or after moving to Professional. One founder on Standard at $99 already pays more than Taplio Growth at $69 and more than two months of Taplio Starter. The products still do different work. Standard’s $99 includes up to ten accounts, an inbox, and listening. Starter’s $39 includes a LinkedIn scheduler and core analytics, and the Starter card does not list AI writing.

Hootsuite rows follow the plans page and the LinkedIn help articles above. Taplio rows follow the public comparison table. Where Taplio shows 250 AI credits and 500 comment credits against an unlimited column, that split lines up with Growth versus Pro. Starter’s card lists scheduling, analytics, and consistency. Treat AI writing as absent on Starter until Taplio’s page says otherwise.

Two rows decide the purchase. If the week is “the LinkedIn profile, the company Page, and four other networks, with an inbox a teammate can share,” Hootsuite Standard is the product, and the seat price is the cost of that scope. If the week is “I still need LinkedIn words, a swipe file, and comments measured in credits,” that is Taplio Growth or Pro. Paying $99 a month for a single personal profile, or paying $199 for Taplio Pro and expecting Instagram on the same calendar, is the mismatch this search hides.

Boykli’s public seats are BYOK at $29/month and Managed at $88/month. Both seats are the same product. Managed includes monthly caps: 210 posts, 150 carousels, 150 images, 25 Voice Agent sessions, and 130 post refinements. BYOK uses your OpenRouter key for chat and images and your Google AI Studio key for Voice Agent. Boykli does not add a generation cap on that seat. You still pay those providers. A paid seat is required before the app will write, create a carousel or image, publish, or schedule. Logged-in visitors can browse Radar and Algorithm without one.

A practical way to choose

Use last month’s accounts and last month’s drafts. A feature you might try is a weak reason to add a seat.

  1. List every account that published in the last 30 days. A LinkedIn profile is one line. A LinkedIn company Page is another. Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, and the rest are their own lines. That count is what Hootsuite calls social accounts. Ten lines fit on Standard. The eleventh line is Professional.
  2. If the list is one personal LinkedIn profile and the posts already exist, Hootsuite Standard at $99 per user per month on annual billing is a large calendar for a small queue. Taplio Starter at $39 (or $32 on the annual card) is the LinkedIn scheduler with core analytics. Boykli at $29 or $88 is the wrong trade if you only needed a clock and you already have the words. LinkedIn’s own composer also has a clock for a profile.
  3. If the list is one profile plus a Page plus other networks, price Hootsuite before you price Taplio. One Standard seat at $99 on the annual rate covers up to ten of those accounts, one inbox, and AI drafting. A second person who needs a login is another $99. Approvals are Advanced, at $399 per user on the annual rate, so two approvers are $798 a month before tax. Taplio will not publish the non-LinkedIn lines. You would add Hootsuite, or another scheduler, on top of Taplio and pay both. A lighter multi-network comparison, Buffer against Taplio, is in Buffer vs Taplio.
  4. If the gap is the LinkedIn words, put Taplio Growth ($69, or $49 on the annual card, 250 AI credits) next to Boykli’s $29 and $88 seats. Taplio’s writing sits on its viral library and its credit meter. Boykli’s writing starts from material you supply: a note, Voice Agent, a YouTube video, an article, a document, or a series. The constraint is intentional. The longer version is why Boykli was built. Hootsuite’s AI drafts a social post inside the suite. It is not a system that turns a call or a PDF into a designed LinkedIn carousel.
  5. If the gap is comments, lead lists, auto-DM, or connection requests, stay on the Taplio plan that lists them. Hootsuite’s inbox is for messages already waiting on the accounts you connected. Boykli does not run either workflow. Automated comments, bulk DMs, and connection requests are a different risk category from a queue that publishes one approved post. What LinkedIn has published about automated activity on the website is in automated LinkedIn posting.
  6. If a teammate must approve the copy before it leaves, that requirement is Hootsuite Advanced, not a Taplio Starter card and not a Boykli seat. Advanced is $399 per user per month on annual billing. Buy it when the approval step is real work. Skip it when you are the only person who will ever press publish.

A clean solo stack is one of these. Hootsuite Standard when several networks and an inbox share one seat. Taplio Growth or Pro when the viral library, AI credits, comments, or leads are the reason for the invoice. Boykli when the hour disappears before a draft and a carousel exist, and the author is your personal profile.

Scheduling a LinkedIn document

Document posts are where the two products stop looking alike.

Hootsuite will schedule a PDF you already made. The help article allows one PDF, up to 300 pages and 100 MB, on a LinkedIn profile or a LinkedIn Page. The same article says LinkedIn’s API does not let Hootsuite publish carousels, polls, event posts, or articles, and does not let it attach a document that is not a PDF. The PDF cannot share the post with an image or a video. Hootsuite cannot rename the file. If you also select Instagram or X on that post, the PDF option goes away, because the document is a LinkedIn attachment. Design still happens somewhere else: Canva and Adobe Express are integrations for visuals, and you bring the finished PDF in. Slide size, type, and the 220px safe zone are your problem before upload. Those constraints are written up in LinkedIn carousel dimensions.

Taplio’s comparison table lists an AI carousel generator on the credit rows. On Growth that spend comes out of 250 AI credits. On Pro the AI column is unlimited. You are buying generation inside the same login as the viral library. You are not buying Hootsuite’s ten-account calendar.

Boykli builds the carousel PDF on the carousel page from the brand kit and publishes that PDF with the personal-profile post. It does not schedule the same file to Instagram. It does not attach a 300-page report as a LinkedIn document. The split that holds: design and queue the LinkedIn document in Boykli when the slides do not exist yet; schedule a finished PDF from Hootsuite when the file is done and the same seat already runs the Page and the other networks; use Taplio’s generator when the carousel should live next to the comment credits. How a PDF document is queued on a personal profile is in how to schedule a PDF on LinkedIn.

Personal branding versus a brand calendar

Personal branding is the post a buyer can forward with your name on it. A brand calendar is the post the company has to stand behind after you change jobs. Hootsuite can do both authors, because a profile and a Page are separate accounts, and the Page always shows the Page name in public. Taplio’s public plans are aimed at the first author: consistency, a viral library, comments, and, on Pro, outreach. Putting the company launch, the job post, and the security notice into a personal-brand tool makes the Page look like a person. Putting the founder’s weekly essay into a ten-account suite is possible, and it is an expensive way to buy a clock.

Keep the two queues apart:

  • Personal profile, a few weekdays, one clock: the point of view, the build note, the lesson from a customer call.
  • Company Page, fewer posts: the announcement, the job, the event, the document the company needs on the record.
  • Leave the same paragraph off both feeds on the same morning. People who follow you and the Page will see a duplicate.

Hootsuite’s recommended times are calculated from each account’s own recent posts, once that account has at least three engaged posts in the last 30 days. Profile recommendations are plan-restricted. A generic “Tuesday at 8 a.m.” chart is a hypothesis, not a seat feature. A reading of public timing datasets is in best time to post on LinkedIn.

FAQ

Is Hootsuite or Taplio better for a founder who only posts on LinkedIn?

If the posts are already written, Taplio Starter is the smaller LinkedIn bill: $39 a month, or $32 on the annual card, with scheduling and core analytics. Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user per month on annual billing and is priced for up to ten social accounts plus an inbox. Move to Taplio Growth or Pro when you want the viral library, AI credits, comments, or lead outreach. Move to Boykli when the missing piece is the draft and a carousel on that personal profile. Move to Hootsuite when other networks, a shared inbox, or a second seat are already on the list.

Does Hootsuite have a free plan?

No. Hootsuite offers a 14-day trial with no credit card, and the FAQ says you are not charged when the trial ends. During the trial, posting is capped at 10–20 posts per organization per day, depending on plan, and bulk scheduling is unavailable. Taplio’s trial is 7 days of Pro access, then the plan you selected, with a 30-day money-back period after payment. Neither page lists a permanent free publishing plan.

Can I schedule a LinkedIn carousel in Hootsuite?

You can schedule one PDF, up to 300 pages and 100 MB, on a LinkedIn profile or Page. Hootsuite’s own help says the LinkedIn API blocks carousels, polls, events, articles, and non-PDF documents, and that a PDF cannot be mixed with other media or with a second network on the same post. Taplio lists an AI carousel generator that spends credits on Growth. Boykli designs the PDF and queues it on the personal profile. If the file already exists and other networks share the seat, Hootsuite’s PDF row is the operational limit to read. If the slides do not exist yet, the generator or the brand-kit builder is the decision.

Which one writes in my voice?

Hootsuite’s AI drafts and edits social captions inside the suite on every paid plan. Taplio’s post generator and draft improver use the viral library and the credit meter, starting on Growth. Boykli writes from material you provide, on a paid seat, including a Voice Agent session, and can turn that material into a separate carousel PDF. A social caption assistant, a viral-library generator, and a draft built from a source you supply are three different writing products. None of them removes the step where you read the draft and put your name on it.

What does a small team actually pay?

Two people on Hootsuite Standard are $198 per month on the annual rate, $2,376 for the year, and they share up to ten social accounts. Two people on Professional are $398 per month, $4,776 for the year, with unlimited accounts. Approvals require Advanced, at $399 per user. Taplio’s public cards are one subscription at $39, $69, or $199 a month, with a separate team offer advertised at up to 30% off for multiple accounts. Boykli is $29 or $88 for one member’s writing, carousels, and personal-profile queue, with no second-network calendar and no approval workflow.

What does Boykli cost next to these two?

BYOK is $29 a month. Managed is $88 a month. Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user per month on annual billing before tax, and Advanced is $399. Taplio Starter is $39, or $32 on the annual card, and Pro is $199, or $149 annually. Managed at $88 sits under Hootsuite Standard and under Taplio Pro, and above Taplio Growth’s monthly card. A $29 or $88 seat that does not include ten networks, an inbox, listening, analytics, comments, or leads is a bad trade for a social team, and a direct trade for a founder whose missing piece is the draft and the carousel.
