Repurposing podcast episodes into LinkedIn PDF carousels
A podcast episode is an hour of speech, a player, and usually a show-notes page. A LinkedIn carousel is a PDF the feed paginates so people can swipe. Those are different objects. The episode stays on the host that has the audio. The PDF is a new file, written as 2 to 8 slides, from one lesson you are willing to sign.
Boykli does not subscribe to an RSS feed, open a Spotify or Apple Podcasts URL, or accept an MP3. Create posts can write one LinkedIn post from a public YouTube upload of the episode, from a public show-notes article, or from a transcript you save as PDF, DOCX, or MD. The carousel page does not read any of those sources. You paste an outline, up to 2,000 characters, and it designs the PDF. The map of topic, idea, and file starts for decks is LinkedIn carousel generator. A watch URL that is already on YouTube, including a republished episode, is YouTube to LinkedIn post. This page is the episode-to-PDF cut: which words are allowed in, and which file LinkedIn should receive.
Two seats can run the steps. BYOK is $29 a month. Managed is $88 a month. Prices are the public ones on boykli.com. Logged-in visitors can browse Radar and Algorithm without a plan. Writing, designing a carousel, publishing, and scheduling need a paid seat.
What LinkedIn actually receives
The publish path is the personal profile you connect with LinkedIn OAuth. Company pages are outside the product. The app can send text, an optional image, or a PDF document. It cannot attach the episode audio, and it does not ask LinkedIn to build a player from a podcast URL.
That leaves two feed objects from this workflow, and they are separate posts:
- A text post. The draft from Create posts. If you want people to press play, the episode URL has to be in that text. You add it.
- A document post. The PDF from the carousel page. The first page is the card in the feed. The caption is separate from the text post, and LinkedIn's commentary limit on that caption is 3,000 characters.
A link card, the one LinkedIn builds when you paste a Spotify or YouTube URL into LinkedIn's own composer and attach nothing else, is a third shape. Boykli's publish call does not ask for that card. If the card is the object you want, copy the finished sentences into LinkedIn and paste the URL there.
The product was scoped so the cut stays with the person whose name is on the post. The longer version of that choice is building Boykli.
Six ways an episode becomes slides
| Method | What the slides are allowed to know | What LinkedIn receives | Where it breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paste the Spotify, Apple, or RSS link into LinkedIn's composer | Whatever you typed above the URL | A text post, and often LinkedIn's own link card | No lesson, no PDF, no queue inside Boykli |
| Drop the MP3 into a general chat and ask for "8 carousel slides" | Whatever that chat claims it heard, plus anything it adds | Whatever you then design and upload | Quotes and stats that were not said. You still build the PDF |
| Paste the episode URL into Boykli YouTube mode | A YouTube id only. A Spotify, Apple, or RSS URL stops on the page before a request | Nothing from that URL | "Please enter a valid YouTube video URL." The spoken lines never entered |
| YouTube upload of the episode, then the carousel page | Captions (first 15,000 characters) or a 20-minute watch for the teaser. Slides know only the outline you paste | A teaser post, plus a new 2–8 slide PDF | The teaser is told to withhold the payoff. Pasting it into the topic produces a vague deck |
| Public show-notes URL in Article mode, then the carousel page | Extracted page text, capped at 40,000 characters. The writer picks one argument. Slides know only your outline | One text post, plus a new PDF | A player page with no article body. A transcript that lives behind a login. Article mode has no section brief |
| Transcript saved as PDF, DOCX, or MD, then the carousel page | The file, up to 7 MB and 80,000 characters, plus an optional brief that names the lesson. Slides still know only the outline | One text post from that lesson, plus a new PDF | An MP3, an SRT, a VTT, or a TXT. The uploader accepts only those three types. An empty brief lets the model pick the line it finds most compelling |
The last row is the default when you already have a transcript and the lesson is not in the first few minutes. The YouTube row is the default when the episode is a public watch URL with captions. The first two rows publish something other than a deck you checked.
Design the deck from one lesson
Create posts takes the transcript or the public source. The carousel page designs a 2–8 slide PDF from the outline you paste. BYOK is $29/month. Managed is $88/month.

A public YouTube upload of the episode
Many shows also publish the episode as a YouTube video. Create posts, YouTube mode, accepts a URL that contains an 11-character video id: a watch link, youtu.be, an embed, a Short, or a live link. The server normalizes it to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= plus that id.
Captions first. The app asks for an English track, then en-US, then en-GB, then whatever track the caption library returns first. The joined text is capped at 15,000 characters. A 50-minute episode therefore contributes its opening captions, not the answer in the last ten minutes. When that text exists, the post is written with Grok 4.6. The instruction is a teaser, about 800 to 1,200 characters: one insight, and a reason to watch. It is told not to summarize the full episode.
No captions. The app does not write from the title. Gemini 3.5 Flash watches the public URL, the first 20 minutes, at low media resolution. Managed seats use Boykli's Vertex key. BYOK seats use your Google AI Studio key. If the watch fails, the API returns an error. A title is not a quiet substitute.
A private video, a members-only video, or an age-gated page fails that load. The fix is a public upload, or a transcript file.
The carousel form has no YouTube field. Pasting the teaser into the topic box designs slides from a paragraph that was ordered to stop early. For the PDF, write the outline from the lesson, including the part the teaser withheld.
Show notes that are a real article
Article mode loads a public page and needs a body of text. After extraction, that text is capped at 40,000 characters. The writer picks the single strongest argument. Article mode does not take a section brief, and the optional idea field on Create posts is not wired into that prompt. A long transcript page can lose the ending. If the claim you want is in the tail, save that section and use Document mode.
A Spotify episode page, an Apple Podcasts page, and a bare embed are players. When the fetch comes back without a readable body, you do not have a transcript. Save the words yourself, or use the YouTube upload if one exists. How a real article becomes one post and then a deck is article to LinkedIn carousel.
A transcript file you already exported
Document mode is the path for a transcript from the host's editor, from the guest's notes, or from a tool you used to transcribe. The control says to drop a PDF, DOCX, or MD. The server rejects anything else, including audio and subtitle files. Limits:
- 7 MB or smaller.
- 80,000 characters or fewer after parsing.
- At least 80 non-whitespace characters. A scanned PDF of show notes has no text layer. There is no OCR step. The API returns that it could not extract readable text.
An optional brief names the lesson. "Use the minute about the queue rule. Ignore the sponsor read and the second guest." is a brief. Leaving it blank asks the model to pick the most compelling line in the file, which may be the aside. The post is aimed at one idea, in the range of 700 to 1,400 characters. Two refinements on that draft. A third pass is a new write.
Save the cleaned section as .md when you can. A text file extracts the words you typed. A designed PDF of show notes can extract in a scrambled order, and the writer will treat that order as the argument. The generic file path, including scanned pages, is PDF to LinkedIn carousel.
Audio, feeds, and Voice Agent
An MP3, an M4A, a Voice Memos export, an SRT, and a VTT are not Create posts inputs. Voice Agent will not import the episode either. It runs a new live interview and transcribes that conversation while you talk. On Managed, a saved session counts as one of 25 Voice Agent sessions a month. It does not turn the recording you already published into slides. A phone memo follows the same rule, in voice memo to a LinkedIn post.
If the useful part of the episode is a decision you can retell, and the transcript is a mess, re-speak that decision in Voice Agent and get three drafts from the new transcript. Those drafts are still text posts. The carousel page does not read the session. You type the outline.
One episode is more than one PDF
A 45-minute interview usually holds three arguments, a sponsor read, and a story that only works if you heard the pause. A carousel holds one argument. Slide count is 2 through 8. The default is 5. The topic box stops at 2,000 characters. A full transcript does not fit, and it should not. The model will try to cover everything you pasted and will thin every page.
Pick the lesson the way you would pick a chapter title:
- One claim a buyer could repeat after eight swipes.
- The number, the name, and the before-and-after that were actually said.
- The steps, in the order you would defend on a call.
- Everything else, marked and left out. The sponsor read, the second topic, and the "anyway" are a different week.
Guest episodes add a rights check before any of that. If you were the guest, the host owns the edit, the title, and often the show-notes prose. Republish your own claim, in your own words, and link the episode if the host wants the play. Do not paste their show notes into Document mode and publish the result as if you wrote the page. If you are the host, you still owe the guest a look before their story, their customer name, or their revenue number is on a public PDF.
A worked teardown
Source, labeled as an example: a 41-minute episode. The host and the guest are both willing to have the lesson republished. The spoken claim, around minute 18: a deploy pipeline went from 11 minutes to 90 seconds after one queue rule was removed. Minutes 1 through 8 are intros. Minute 30 is a sponsor. Minute 36 is a second topic about pricing. The episode is also a public YouTube video with English captions. The host has an .md export of the full transcript.
Pass 1, get one post that you can check against the source. Two honest options. Use one.
YouTube mode, because the payoff is not in the opening captions:
- Paste the watch URL. Captions load, so the write uses Grok 4.6 and the first 15,000 characters. Minute 18 may be inside that cap on a talk that is not caption-dense. If the draft never mentions 11 minutes or 90 seconds, those lines were past the cap or the teaser hid them. Do not invent them into the teaser. Put them in the outline yourself, because you heard them.
- Thumbnail off if the post should carry the watch URL as text. Thumbnail on attaches a still and makes the publish an image post. The still is not the player.
- Tone: Step-by-Step. Hooks on, with a hook idea that names both times. CTA on, with a CTA idea that points at the deploy section. Then paste the watch URL into the body. The writer is told not to emit markdown links.
- Read the draft. Two refinements. "Keep 11 minutes and 90 seconds if they are in the source. Drop the sponsor and the pricing topic."
Document mode, because you want the post to contain the mechanism, not a teaser:
- Cut the markdown to the deploy section. Delete timestamps, the sponsor, and the pricing block.
- Upload the
.md. Brief: "One lesson: the queue rule. Keep 11 minutes and 90 seconds. Do not mention pricing or the sponsor." - Tone: Step-by-Step. Read the draft against the file. A number that was not in the cut does not stay.
Pass 2, the PDF, on the carousel page. This pass does not receive the YouTube URL or the file.
- Topic, written as an outline. "Cover: deploy went from 11 minutes to 90 seconds. Slide 2: the queue rule we removed. Slide 3: what the YAML changed. Slide 4: what we still wait on. Close: the one rule to copy. Do not add other numbers. Do not mention the sponsor or pricing."
- Tone: Normal. Humor would treat the deploy as a joke.
- Slide count: 5, matching the outline.
- Shape: Square, 1080 by 1080, when each step is a short card. Portrait, 1080 by 1350, when a step needs two lines plus a label. Type size and the 220 pixel safe zone are LinkedIn carousel dimensions.
- Design: Neo-Brutalist unless brand-kit colors are on. With those colors on, the only design available is Normal. How the colors, the logo, and the handle apply is LinkedIn brand kit.
- Model: Grok 4.6 is the default. The picker also offers Gemini 3.5 Flash, Claude Sonnet 5, and GPT-5.6 Terra. This picker is the deck. It is not the post model.
- Create. Read every slide against the outline. Edit the document title and the caption. The caption can point at the episode. It is not a second copy of the teaser unless you paste it there.
Pass 3, two publishes on the personal profile:
- Save the text post to the Library if you are not posting it now.
- Publish the text post, or add it to the queue. The queue uses the weekdays, the one time of day, and the timezone you save.
- Download the PDF or publish the document as its own post. Scheduling that PDF is a different queue item. The steps are how to schedule a PDF on LinkedIn.
- Read both on a phone. The first PDF page is the card. A cover that only says the show name fails the swipe. The cover has to hold the claim.
The same episode can support a second PDF next week, from the pricing section, after you cut a new file and write a new outline. Do not ask one topic box to hold both lessons.
What to check before you queue the PDF
- Every number on the slides was said in the episode, and you saw it in the outline. The carousel model does not re-listen.
- The guest agreed to the claim, the name, and the number, when the story is theirs.
- The sponsor read is absent, unless the post is a disclosed ad and you wrote it that way on purpose.
- The caption stands alone. People swipe a PDF without opening the player.
- The episode URL, if you want plays, is in the text post or in the caption. The PDF pages are not a player.
- You would say the cover line out loud. A line you would not say is an edit before the slot.
Price and caps
| BYOK, $29/month | Managed, $88/month | |
|---|---|---|
| Transcript file to one post | Your OpenRouter key. Grok 4.6 | Boykli's platform key. Grok 4.6. Counts as one of 210 posts a month |
| Captioned YouTube upload of the episode | Your OpenRouter key | Same post model and the same 210 |
| YouTube upload with no captions | Your Google AI Studio key. Gemini 3.5 Flash watches the first 20 minutes | Boykli's Vertex key. Same watch |
| Carousel PDF | No Boykli monthly cap. You pay the provider | 150 carousels a month |
| Voice Agent, only if you re-speak the lesson | Your Google AI Studio key for the live session, OpenRouter for the drafts | 25 saved sessions a month. The three drafts do not also decrement the 210 |
| Who can write | A paid seat. Radar and Algorithm stay readable without one | The same gate |
Refinements: two on a given draft, across short, medium, long, YouTube, article, and document. Managed also has 130 refinements a month. A cancelled seat keeps access until the period end. An on_hold seat and a cancel that has already expired do not. AppSumo lifetime BYOK is a code at boykli.com/redeem, one code per account. An existing paid seat blocks redeem. BYOK never uses platform keys.
FAQ
Can I paste a Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or RSS link?
No. YouTube mode requires an 11-character YouTube video id and rejects anything else before a request goes out. Article mode needs a public page with a real text body. A player page is not that body. Export the transcript, or use the public YouTube upload of the same episode.
Does one button turn the episode into a carousel?
No. Create posts returns one text post. The carousel page returns a PDF from a topic you paste, 2 to 8 slides. They are two creates, two edits, and two publishes if you want both in the feed.
Will Boykli transcribe the MP3?
No. Document mode accepts a PDF, a DOCX, or an MD file, up to 7 MB, with at least 80 non-whitespace characters after parsing. Audio and subtitle files are refused. Transcribe in the tool you already use, cut one lesson, and upload that text.
What if the episode is an hour long?
The PDF still gets one lesson. YouTube captions contribute at most the first 15,000 characters. A watch without captions covers the first 20 minutes. A document can hold up to 80,000 characters, and an empty brief may pick the wrong minute. Cut the file to the section you will sign, and put that section's outline in the topic box.
Can the slides use the cover art or a waveform?
No. The carousel page builds HTML slides and prints a PDF. It does not import episode art, audiograms, or frames from a YouTube upload. Put the words and the numbers in the topic. Square is 1080 by 1080. Portrait is 1080 by 1350.
I was the guest. Can I repurpose the host's episode?
Republish your own claim, with the host's and the guest's agreement when the story is not only yours. The host's show-notes prose, their title, and their edit are their page. Link the episode from your caption if they want the play. Boykli will not check that permission for you.
Can I schedule the text post and the PDF together?
They are separate queue items on the personal profile. Same weekdays, one time of day, one timezone. The app does not attach a first comment and does not post to a company page.
Will the deck invent a statistic from the episode?
The post prompts forbid quotes, stats, and names that are not in the source they were given. The carousel prompt sees only the outline. If a number appears that you did not type, delete it. Do not treat the prompt as a claim that every draft is clean.
Start from the lesson, then the PDF
Paste a public YouTube upload, a show-notes article, or a transcript file on Create posts. Design the carousel from the outline. The seat is the same one that publishes to your personal profile.
